Materials & tools
Use 2×4 (actual 1 1/2″ × 3 1/2″) framing and 1×4 (actual 3/4″ × 3 1/2″) boards. Width × depth × height: ~29 3/16″ × ~35 1/4″ × ~29 1/2″. Armrest height: ~23 15/16″. Seat slope 5°; backrest 15° from vertical. Allow for available stock lengths, saw kerf and angled cuts. Part I requires a full-width blank before ripping. Dry-fit the seat and backrest before tightening the joints. Place the chair on a level surface.
Care
Sand edges and end grain. Choose a finish suitable for the wood species and environment. Keep gaps free of debris and regularly check the screws, the condition of the wood, and the stability of the chair.
